Jesus is the heir of all things. All things. All my things. Me. All of it belongs to him, it is his possession. Why do all things belong to Him? Because he created them. And He sustains them with his word. He is sustaining the world we live in now. He is sustaining the atoms in my body right now. That's why I am more dependant on his word than on bread, because without his word my digestive system can't do anything with the bread.
"in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed heir of all things, and through whom also he made the universe. The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word."
