No longer slaves

Do you ever feel helpless when confronted with your own sin?

In Ephesians 1:4-13, Paul is expanding on the fact that we have been blessed with EVERY blessing (v3). If you thought that statement was outrageous, then they only keep getting bigger!

In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace,
(Ephesians 1:7 ESV)

In the book of Exodus, we see God’s people in slavery, crying out to Him. He hears and redeems them - freeing them from slavery.  They were saved from death by sheltering under the blood of a sacrificed lamb and God brought them out of Egypt.

We are also enslaved - to sin. (Don’t believe that? Try not sinning and see how you get on!). It is not undeserved, we have put ourselves there by pursuing the things that enslave us. But now, we have been redeemed, safe because of Jesus blood and led out of our slavery to sin.

So although we still experience the presence of sin in our lives, we are free from it’s power. We are no longer enslaved by it.

God creates, sin corrupts, but Christ redeems
